Treats Thursday '24

Ahh, the hallofdays. This shit sucks lol.

Ultimately though, I've had far worse Thanksgivings (even excluding all the ones with family). The GF was in good spirits all day and I raised them further by continuing my new tradition of going to the one store near us that doesn't close and buying her various treats. It's Treats Thursday.

It's highly distinct from Thanksgiving in many ways. First,

Anyway, the treats I got her were the fancy shortbread cookies she likes to have with tea and a bottle of sparkling apple cider. The treat I got for me? A big thing of Diet Coke. I'm a simple they/them.

The other treat of mine was getting to do Deadball Winter League once again—over on https://twitch.tv/bedsores/, my friend Alyssa and I have been crafting a gorgeous set of teams within a little TTRPG universe for the past 3 years during the MLB off-season. We play Deadball (which you should also play) and we play for a very nice group of viewers/chatters. It's incredibly enriching and helped me feel normal today.

Treats Thursday can also often include making a special meal but it's NOT Thanksgiving, as explained above. Today's meal I put effort into was one of my standard depression casseroles. More hot dish than casserole, actually. More hot mess than hot dish, really.

Egg noodles, whatever "cream of" soup I have on hand, herbs & such, something to put on top to give it a cripsyness during its stint in the oven. Hot mess is easy. Hot mess is a treat.
