[Huey Lewis voice] I Got a Newww Pen

I'm in full convalescence mode after a rough hall of days. I got so depressed I feel like I'm recovering from a concussion, genuinely had a hard time focusing on anything yesterday (hence, no blog). Despite my head still swimming, I perked up a bit once my shipment of art supplies arrived! I got my girlfriend a set of woodworking tools and various woodworking items and I got myself a bunch of painting stuff and... the Speedball.

It's the name of the company but I like referring to the pen itself with the name. It's exciting, it's fresh—It's Speedball. It's also my first ever fountain pen! I've been drawing more and more lately and as much as I've been enjoying my Micron pens, I wanted bolder lines and like, texture? This seemed like the thing to go with. I can now confirm it was the thing to go with because I'm absolutely loving this thing. Here's the first page of doodles and test lines and things I made with it (with a few bits of Micron brushstrokes):

Nothing crazy here, just me getting used to the pen. I spent a couple more hours and sheets of paper after this one drawing whatever came to mind. I knew this pen would be a different experience to the ballpoints I'm used to but I wasn't expecting simply drawing lines to be so fun. Something about it... it hits different. Not sure why! The feeling of the nib against the paper is nice, controlling the shape of the line with the angle of the pen feels really slick... I even enjoyed watching the ink dry (although that might just be more proof I'm running on empty).

The next step to figure out is what to draw when I run out of ideas...
