Happy New Year's, Losers!

I did a big "Nicky Wrapped" post last year and I had always planned on continuing the potential tradition. I had even taken notes throughout the beginning of the year about various things I wanted to bring up and review. But, well, returning readers of the blog may well know the kind of year I ended up having. I woke up at 5am this morning to take care of some chores and then settle down to write Nicky Wrapped 2024. Then, I got very anxious and queasy.

Figured it was the iced coffee. It was, but it was also the stress. I realized quickly, after a paragraph into the draft, I really didn't want to re-hash the entire goddamn mess again. The murder, the car crash, everything—I'm sick of it. I'm done with 2024. The guy who almost killed me can have it. The other guy, too. They took what could've been a very nice year away from me and they can keep it as far as I'm concerned. Fuck those guys. And fuck you to anyone else who needs it. Not any of you reading this, I don't think. It's good to put the Fuck You energy out there though, so your enemies know to stay on their stupid toes.

So, instead, I just had a nice time doodling, watching Star Trek, and convalescing. Mostly like yesterday and the day before. Trying my best to make it into 2025, slowly limping across the finish line.

I got to about 8pm with that vibe until my creative impulse kicked into another gear and I had to make a final song of '24. I thought it'd be nice to make one last, finished thing to wrap it up. I went with the theme of New Year and Insanity and it came out really well. Only took me from 8 to 11 and it filled me with the sense of accomplishment I needed.

I can make a song that makes my girlfriend laugh in about 3 hours. I can survive near death. I can figure out whatever happens next.
